Bridges to a Better World - Intergenerational Read-In

In solidarity with the National African American Read-In, UUCA will launch it's first Intergenerational Read-In focusing on the life of Ruby Bridges, the first African-American child to desegregate an all-white public elementary school in the South. We will use Ruby's life and story as a platform to understand the history, strategies and deeper implications of the fight for social justice in our current day communities and global world.

SIGN UP:
Commit to Read Ruby Bridges Autobiography with your Family, UUCA Members and Friends. Orders will be taken starting on MLK Sunday in the UUCA Social Hall/Bookstore starting on MLK Sunday and reading will begin February 4th.

READ & REFLECT:
Through the month of February, read and reflect on Ruby's story as well as the supplemental resources/self-study questions that are paired with it. Podcasts, interviews, other literature and resources will be provided to enhance the scope and bring a greater depth of understanding so take your time and explore!

DIALOGUE & ENGAGE:
Sunday, March 4th will bring our Read-In to a close with a special Sunday service honoring Ruby Bridge's and a featured film and discussion during Second Hour. Congregational/Community Leaders working on issues of educational inequity will share their work and plug you into local opportunities to engage!
